San Francisco is a Sham: A Love Note to my Classmates in Focus on Hitchcock

You people fucking disgust me. Twice now I have walked away from this class nauseated. For a city known for its tolerance and open-mindedness, this is pathetically low.

Yesterday, you shouted down a man trying to state an opinion. His crime? Daring to suggest that Jimmy Sterwart was conservative. What, does he LOOK like a liberal to you people? Does his consistent mom and apple pie image ring false to you? You think maybe behind the facade of straight-laced white anglo-saxon protestant-ism he was a cross dresser obsessed with the pool boy? Get fucking real.

You people are horrible. You are just as close-minded as the people back in Michigan that would shout you down for defending homosexuality. You are just as closed-minded, and just as much pieces of shit as they are. People ARE allowed to have opinions. Their opinions ARE allowed to differ from the societal or cultural norm. Just because the cultural norm in San Francisco openly approves of homosexuality does not mean that Jimmy Stewart, fucking bastion of WASP life in the goddamn NINETEEN FORTIES agrees with your fucking preconceived notions. You know, motherfucking WORLD WAR II ERA. No way in the fuck would Jimmy Stewart knowingly have played a gay character, especially in the fucking 40's, you cretins.

And of course this comes just when I was thinking I finally found a place where I wasn't completely surrounded by idiots. Thank you for confirming my faith in humanity, you sick, sick fucks.

And then today... today.

You people are so fucking quick to look for an excuse to label someone something horrible. You are every bit as bad as Joseph McCarthy flinging cries of, "He's a commie!" and "You're a dirty red!" However, your take on it is, "He's a misogynist!" and "You're a dirty chauvinist!" I've heard it said (by my logic teacher, no less) that any argument wherein you compare your opponent with Adolf Hitler or Nazism is immediately invalidated as fallacious. Why? Because it's clearly not cogent reasoning. It's obviously ad hominem. You are attacking the person, not their position and trying to get the other people present on your side through an emotional response. You are doing the exact same thing as people calling their opponents Hitler or a Nazi when it is unwarranted. THIS IS DISGUSTING.

I've discovered today that when people say words like, "strong woman", "independent", and "sexually assertive" they do not mean what you would think they would, by, you know... their definition or something ludicrous like that.

Oh no. In San Francisco, at least, those words mean it's perfectly okay to be unfaithful, it's perfectly okay to use people, and it's perfectly okay to lie to them. THIS IS BULLSHIT. Couched in these seemingly positive qualities of strength and independence is condonement for being a shitty, despicable human being.

Let me expound on this. It is NEVER okay to lie to people, ESPECIALLY not to someone you are in a relationship and DEFINITELY not a marriage with. Would you lie to someone you made a contract with? Hopefully not. The motherfuckers driving six foot spikes into the skull of the stock market thought it was cool to lie to the people they had made contracts with, and our society is SUPPOSEDLY punishing them. Fuck morality, it is just being a lying hypocrite to marry someone and then fuck someone else. Its clearly a betrayal, but let's ignore the moral issue still.

Guess what? Marriage is a contract. One of the terms of that contract is (and this is VERY specifically stated, by the way) that YOU WILL ENGAGE IN SEXUAL INTERCOURSE AND OTHER SEXUAL ACTS ONLY WITH YOUR SPOUSE.

Feminism is NOT justification for infidelity or deceit. Social movements are not an excuse for being a shithead. This is not acceptable. You people are fucking awful.

And while I thank you for letting me say my piece ONCE (while everyone else that wanted to got to talk multiple times), I am furious that the person who spoke immediately after me dismissed everything I had to say, completely ignored my points, and looked down on me, patronizing me. I'm sure if this discussion had taken place without the watchful eyes of a professor you would have been yelling about how I hate women.

This is absolutely not the case, and I do think it is terrible when women are treated like shit just for the "crime" of being female. However, I hold men and women to the same standards and it is not right, just, nice, or acceptable for men OR women to lie and/or cheat on their wives, husbands, boyfriends, or girlfriends.

Sexual liberation is when an unmarried woman can choose who she wishes to have sex and not have sex with. Women are also allowed the choice of not having sex with anyone. However, when you marry someone you waive the right to sexual liberation whether you are male or female. You and your spouse end that freedom mutually.

If you cheat on your husband or wife, you are shit and I hope terrible things happen to you.

Being a strong woman has nothing to do with treating your husband or boyfriend like shit.

Some people talk about how our language is sexist, and I agree. Do you know the word for someone who hates women? Sure you do. That's a misogynist! Do you know the word for someone who hates men? No? Didn't think so. Do you know the word for a medical doctor that specializes in health care for women, especially when involving reproductive concerns? Sure you do. That's a gynecologist. Do you know the word for a medical doctor that specializes in health care for men, especially when involving reproductive concerns? No, I didn't think so.

(Oh, and before someone makes the charge, no, a misanthrope is not someone who hates men. It is someone who hates mankind. Mankind, whether you like such sexist terms or not, includes women. That being the case, I'm well on my way to becoming a misanthrope if you're all as filthy as these people in my class.)

So, in closing, you people are so low that I can't even come up with a fucking adjective to properly express my disgust and what's more, my disappointment in you.
