City of Ripoffs

Most of the contents of this post are from an email I sent to Penny Arcade.

Until a couple of months ago I never had a PC powerful enough to handle any of the MMORPG games. I like comic books and City of Heroes sounded cool from descriptions on Penny Arcade and from my friends. My friend sent me a 14 day Valentine's Day free trial thing, so I figured I would try it out. Hey, it was free, right? No, no it wasn't free, but I'll get to that.

First of all, I have broadband Internet, 1.5mps according to the login page. It took me about 5 days to download City of Heroes. Yeah, almost half of my free trial was downloading. I emailed support and they basically told me to fuck myself. They said once an account was created there was nothing they could do about it. Great. So I automatically lost out on all that time. So I tried playing the game, and it was okay for a while, but the best part was the chargen. Not enough to keep me with a paying subscription. So, I was just going to let my subscription run out, and I would stop playing. Sounds fine, right? No. Because NCSoft doesn't give a shit what you want.

Now, it says on the email I got when I started that the trial ended on the 15th. Fine. So I figured I play and delete it on the end of the 15th. Sounds reasonable, right? No, no it's not. Instead they charge you on midnight of the 14th. And since I was playing at that time, that also means that my account is "ineligible for refund". That's code for I'm fucked. So they refuse to refund my fucking money. I don't want to play their fucking game and I already deleted it, but I'm stuck with a one month subscription.

If someone out there wants to like, Paypal me 12 bucks they can have my fucking login. Better yet would be a solution where those assholes at NC give me my fucking money back. But two long distance phone calls and an assload of emails later, I only got to play the game for a few days and now I'm out $15 when I'm pretty close to fucking broke and need that money to buy goddamn food with. This is what I was gonna ask for for my birthday present? What the fuck was I thinking?

NCSoft sucks.
